The sacred tomb of Selaparang is a tomb complex located in East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, precisely in the district of Swela about 65 km from Mataram. Such as religion tours in generally, Tomb Selaparang is not free from the myth which is believed by the residents and visitors. The local people believe that if we are still single, only wash your face by using the water of the Tomb, then you will get a mate.
The existence of Tomb Selaparang was very sticky with the presence of Selaparang Kingdom on 13th and 16th century. Selaparang Kingdom is a Hindu kingdom whose power ended with the arrival of the expedition of Majapahit kingdom in 1357th. The next Kingdom of Selaparang was Islam kingdom.
According to the story that evolved from mouth to mouth, the Tomb was built when one king or the guardian of Selaparang hunted by the Dutch. When it breaks through the wall of the king's mosque which is located next to the tomb and disappeared there. In this complex there used to be a library, but the Dutch destroyed it. In this library there is a history of the Selaparang Kingdom at that time.
If you visit The sacred tomb of Selaparang, then you must follow the rules that apply there as prohibited photographing, you should wear decent clothes, remove footwear and for women who are menstruating are not allowed to enter the tomb area. In This tomb complex there are three tombs are most visited by visitors there are the tomb of King Selaparang, The parents tomb of King Selaparang and the tomb of commander Gajah Mada. One of the Islamic trail in this tomb is one of the tombstones bearing the Arabic letters and letters that are intermediate in ancient Javanese letters to Bali which consists of five lines and sculpted in the form of bas-reliefs, which reads "La ilaha ilallah, wa Muhammadun radul, ulla, headstone, gegawean and parayuga ".
How To Go there
To go to the Tomb location, you can rent a car or using a private vehicle which will take about 1 hour drive. During the trip, you will be treated to a lot of beautiful scenery including the dazzling view from Mount Rinjani. To enter the tomb area, we have to pay a ticket for Rp.5000 per person.
