Gili Sulat and Gili Lawang are small island located in the northeast side of Lombok island. Gili Lawang and Gili Sulat located adjacent to the same characteristics are dominated by mangrove forest scenery. Both are promising Gili landscapes inhabited only by monkeys, birds and the other animals.
Gili Lawang and Gili Sulat potentially very suitable to be used as a destination for nature tourism ( eco-tourism ) because they have potential in the form of mangrove forests and underwater gardens are very beautiful. Overall those dyke consists of mangrove forests, but in fact there is also a small portion of white sand, and in certain seasons herd dolphins will appear in this area. To cross Gili Lawang and Gili Sulat it will takes about 30 minutes.
In Gili Sulat, you will find a ZIP Supervision and wooden bridges that allow you to enjoy the mangroves forest. In addition, you can also visit the snorkel spot located in between Gili Lawang and Gili Sulat shallow waters and which is decorated with the various types of coral reefs and fish that adds to the natural beauty of the two islands. You can see the various kinds of fish such as the Clownfish who was making out with anemones.
How to get there
Gili Lawang and Gili Sulat can be reached in less than 2.5 hours from Mataram, which is the ferry port located in Tekalok village, Sambelia, East Lombok.
